To have more complete picture, don't forget to add $199.00 to buy or $3/mo to lease a cable modem. Also, after 6 months, the fee rolls back to $57.95/mo w/out subscription to TV service.
The prices may vary between different areas.

If you can find an inexpensive cable modem on ebay, you can kill the rental fee, and get setup much quicker when you get this kind of a deal.

I own both a dsl modem and a cable modem, there's no reason to rent these items from the internet providers, you can buy them used for less then 20$ after shipping charges.

also, some of the "new" hardware they "lease" or sell you for insanly high prices are CRAP. ask some hardware guru's what are good models of cable/dsl modems.

and constantly seek deals and prices, especially if there's compeition in your area. these companies love to wave setup fee's to get you as a customer, even if they give you 6 months free/discounted.

I had one company offer me 50% off for 6 months just to keep from switching to a much cheaper dsl plan that was way better then what I had discconnected.

PS:

This Comcast offer is ONLINE, thru Staples, till OCT 31st. so act now if you have not.

If you already have a comcast, call comcast and ask them if you qualify for this discount, if not, tell them you want to switch to DSL they'll probably give you the discount to keep you.

My wife called our local telco and hooked up dsl and they gave me a competive DSL rate that fits about 6$ a month for 8 months..

I really do suggest you explain how you can get super cheap cable modem internet access using all these rebates to your local dsl provider :P they'll surly bend over backwards to save you a buck and make you a customer!.

btw. buy a dsl modem too just incase you ever plan on making a cheap internet connection with it :P
