| | Unhappy, pending upgrade | | Review By: egodard on Mar. 16, 2006 | Summary: This suite costs two to three times what its components, such as SnapSync, do. However, unlike every otherware software "suite" with which I'm familiar, the component products are compatible with a different set of devices once they're bundled in the suite. (Nowhere does their website, or any other, indicate that products supported by the Suite may not be supported by components of the suite.)
For example (one that's impacted me), the Motorola E815 (from Verizon) is supported by the suite but not the SnapSync component, making it necessary to buy the full suite in order to do just those things (syncing the phone book) that SnapSync is supposed to do. That's like Microsoft Word not printing to some printers unless you buy the full Microsoft Office suite.
Since I was misled into buying only SnapSync, and since that order was processed (though it shouldnt have been) with a cable explicitly selected for use with the E815 (by following futuredial's online "will it work with my phone" wizard), I'm waiting on a CD that will serve as an upgrade to the full suite before I'll know if the product itself is worth reviewing. So, at the moment, I can only raise a yellow flag of caution about the suite/component issue, and possibly about the company's lack of clarity. | | | Would shop in this store again: NO | | |
