Summary: While delivery is reasonable considering they are being shipped from China to USA, the quality is what keeps me coming back. The glasses have been dead on in terms of meeting the specs of the prescription. Of the three glasses I've purchased, only one frame had a flaw - a hinge was too loose. It took a local optometrist about 3 seconds to fix it. As long as they keep their prices low they'll continue to get my business.
Pre sales customer service was excellent when I purchased my first pair about three years ago. Haven't really had a need to test post transaction customer service because, as stated above, the quality has been above average.
One caveat, its been a year since I purchased my last pair and two years since the first two were purchased. I cannot comment on their current product line and customer service. I'm getting ready to place an order soon so I will post if the experience is different than in the past.
While some of the other reviews are less than flattering, if Optical4less has maintained consistent quality control it may be a situation of those who have a bad experience needing to vent. One weakness is the communication barrier. They seem to try hard so I'll give them credit for that, however, miscommunication is the weak link. Given the volume of production they probably generate one might expect 1-3% of the customers to fall victim to miscommunication errors and, understandably, likely to be more vocal about a bad experience than a satisfied customer would be regarding a favorable transaction.
I try to keep it simple and that has worked so far.

| Review By: Californian on Sep. 16, 2009 |
Summary: August 2008 I ordered 6 or 7 pair of glasses, all titanium or alloy metal frames; all with hi index mineral lens. They bundled the two orders together, mailing all the glasses to me at one time. So I got an aviator mirror coating distance hi index mineral lens. I use it driving, hiking, walking. I got a reading aviator gradient tint mineral lens for reading outdoors. I broke one lens by dropping it on a mountain top while collecting rose quartz in the Sierra Nevada, so just ordered two replacement titanium double bridge high index mineral lens gradient tinted glasses. In my original order, I got three titanium professional glasses (two for distance- one as a backup pair) and one for reading. etc. The optical clarity performance is immense- I will work with their selection of frames in order to receive this high quality of optical lens material. I am seeing so well again it is life changing. With the high index mineral lens improving the clarity of my vision I painted two wall murals as weekend projects. I am grading hundreds of papers, reading on line, grading on line, painting in my spare time, hiking, driving, and enjoying the scenery. I even saw the stars with clarity at night for the first time in years upon receiving the high index mineral lens glasses. The clarity and improved visual acuity mailed to me from off continent is life changing, allowing increased creativity, and work productivity- increased opportunity to do and be with no eyestrain.
This is the best quality optics I have had since the mid 1980s when I got a German or Austrian thin glass lens in handmade frame.
WORTH THE WAIT. Optical4less dispensed high index mineral lens brought Extraordinary clarity & visual acuity back to me.
If you can't see without your glasses & have too high a prescription to be a good candidate for one of the eye vision surgeries- the high index mineral lens material is absolutely life changing. For me, it rolled back my life in joy, quality and recreation- years. |

| | just reveived glasses |
| Review By: rob on Apr. 27, 2009 |
Summary: Just received the glasses, model p113. The frames are good quality, comparable to RayBan wayfarer(frames are slightly smaller height then RayBan), and the lens are great(perfect prescription). The only thing that doesn't look as sturdy is the hinges but we'll see how they last. Took about 24 days from ordering to receive them but I don't know where you can get this quality glasses for less. |

Summary: Well, the glasses that arrived did not look like the picture. The frames are as expected but the lenses are not. This is rimless so the shape is totally up in the air for the labs. They are pretty but not what was expected. I need glasses that will work under my motorcycle helmet and these are questionable at best. I specified a height of 30mm and these are 24mm. I ordered a width of 125mm and these came back 136mm. I ordered clear lens and they arrived a pretty rose color so that unexpected change is OK. The lenses are thicker than my previous pairs of glasses and my perscription hasn't changed so I am not sure what material they are made out of. So would I order from them again? It all depends on if and how their customer support responds to my online form. Only now do I realize that there is NO OTHER WAY TO CONTACT them. They don't even have an email address published. |

Summary: I specifically asked them for "plano" glasses with Anti-Reflective coating, to reduce glare in night driving.
The glasses I received had NO anti-reflective / anti-glare effect whatsoever.
The glasses ($29+ S&H) were cheap plastic the likes of which you could find at any flea-market for less than $2.00.
They have no Return or customer satisfaction policy.
Steer clear!

| Review By: loven on Apr. 7, 2008 |
Summary: I ordered a pair of photocromatic glasses with polerized clipons. The glasses were made within 7 days and shipped to Melbourne in 4 days. I loved the clear photos of the frames and their "frame over my face s/w" is the BEST I have found. So choosing was easier then all the other web sites I checked out. They also automatically emailed me when shipped with a tracing number. Customer service: I had no problems so did not need to contact them.
I am impressed with the quality/strength/finish of the frames too, and it goes dark fast. I will be back to buy again in the future.

| | No Refund for return of wrong glasses |
| Review By: Gohpdee on Sep. 28, 2007 |
Summary: They sent the glasses and did not make them as specified. They could not make them as specified. The optical quality was typical and not worth their premium price. They promised a refund upon return of the glasses, but now they will not acknowledge receipt of them, even though I sent them Fedex with tracking numbers. I am out the price of the glasses and the return shipping. They are greedy and dishonest. |

| Review By: samatha on Feb. 9, 2006 |
Summary: The first time I ordered my glasses I received them a week from shipping. I guess since it was an easy 40 sale they had no problem sending it. A month later I ordered two glasses one of which was Photochromic / Transitions Single Vision Lenses and now one month and two days later a I getting ready to dispute the charges cause they claim they have filed "a complaint with the hong kong post office" but this doesn't resolve the fact that I do not have my glasses nor do they tell me what they will do to get me my glasses! Not happy! Don't do business with this company |

| Review By: Linda on Nov. 27, 2005 |
Summary: Optical4less.com charged my credit card for $588 dollar, but only shipped me two eyeglasses which should cost $98 dollar only. Now they refuse to reply my e-mail. However, my credit card is still claiming me right now. |

| | Stay Away from Optical4Less |
| Review By: brandsberg on Feb. 17, 2005 |
Summary: Well here it is six weeks after placing my order with Optical4Less and I still don't have glasses.
My glasses should have included progressive, transition type lens in the HL007 frame with -2.00 and -1.75, with +2.25 adjustment for old eyes, a simple order, nothing complicated.
After a bit of time passed and I did not see a change in "status order" screen I emailed then three times to get feedback. I got no bounced emails, so assume they got them.
It was a month later when I tried to cancel the order in a fourth email I finally got a response.
They claimed they had sent out an email to me three days after I ordered to question the order. I will give them a plus for finding a mistake in the order. However when they heard nothing from me they did nothing even though I had given them my phone number in the "comments" section of the order in case they needed it.
Their excuse was that they had had server problems.
One would have thought knowing this, that they would have resent the emails out, but no, they did nothing.
If they had had server problems I should have gotten bounced emails, so I question their excuse.
Then they promised the glasses would ship in another week, so I waited and cut them some slack, but cancelled the order 24 hours after the second ship date passed and there was no change in order status. I tried to fax them to cancel as well, but got no pick up after many times of trying.
I sent out two other emails when I saw no change in status, one a "cancel email" and two days after the second drop dead date I got an email saying they were closed for the week for vacation and that the order had shipped as scheduled, even though there was no change in status.
When checking the "mail order tracking button" which is supplied by them, the order shipped 8 days later than the second drop dead date, so she lied in the email. So even though I cancelled the order, they shipped the glasses anyway.
Needless to say I have contacted my credit card company to dispute the order, so should not be billed.
I placed another order with another company 48 hours after the drop dead date and hope I have better luck with them.
Stay away from this company. With no phone number, you have no way of knowing what is happening with your order.
This is the first time I have placed an order with an on line company and so far have been unimpressed. |
